COMPUTERS USING INTEL PROCESSORS.
Most of the computers we buy use intel or amd processors, but it is intel that has dominated to beat amd in our computers. Today I decided to write this thread about these intel processors and how to choose them to help people make the right decisions when they want to buy a new laptop/desktop
What is a processor?
Maybe you will be wondering why if you want to buy a new laptop you need to look at the processor? What is important about this processor?
- In simple terms, the processor is a device inside your computer that carries instructions for computer programs. The instructions can be mathematical, logical, instructions entering the computer and outgoing
- the faster the processor has, the faster the instructions will be made and the faster the computer programs will work.
A family of intel processors
Intel has many types of processors and it is difficult to name them together, but they have made it easier for us by organizing their processors into families. And this is their family.
1. Atom processor- these processors are used in mini laptops and tablets, they are small in shape, that's why even their devices are small, these processors are not very powerful and their devices take a long time to charge.
2. Celeron processor- It is not much different from atom but this is a little better. It is used on devices larger than atom such as large laptops and desktops
3. Pentium- this is faster than celeron and atom is also used in large devices.
4. Core 2 duo- this is famous for its multitasking performance, it can do many things at the same time but most of them are outdated
5. Core i3- this is Intel's latest processor, it is dual core but its cores have great performance and it also has 2 threads on each core, it is good for those who want great performance at a cheap price
6. Core i5- for laptop is dualcore and for desktop is quadcore without thread, many big software in the world have been optimized to use core like i5, it is very good for people who use software that demand performance but do not do multitasking.
7.Core i7- this has a quadcore processor with 8 threads on the desktop and can also be dualcore on the laptop. This is the best processor for ordinary people and it does multitasking even if the software is very demanding.
8. Xeon- this is the processor with the fastest intel processors but it has been designed to work on a large computer such as a server. When you host a website, a processor like this is what processes webpages.
Processor generation (important)
It is very important to know which generation the processor comes from. There are processors with i7 of 2010 that are slow, man, there is also a possibility that i3 will surpass i7 in performance if they are from a different generation. So in this area you have to be careful to avoid being sold a goat in a sack. So when you buy a laptop/desktop, you must know which generation it is, otherwise you are at risk and this is the way to know.
- A processor with a number starting with four thousand is fourth generation (4xxx)
Example Intel i3-4130.
- Processor with a number starting with three thousand is third generation (3xxx)
Model i3-3130.
- Processor starting with two thousand is second generation (2xxx)
Model i3-2140
I don't recommend buying a first generation processor, you should at least buy a second generation one and also the price should be lower for this second compared to the third/fourth.
Small processors like Atom and Celeron have their own generations which are
- clover trail
- bay trail
The old atom processors were very bad and slow, but baytrail came to give them power and make them have great performance, so if you want an atom/celeron device, make sure its processor is from the baytrail generation.
Preprocessor letters (important)
If you have examined the front of the processor, there are various letters, these are also very important to know because if you do not pay attention to them, you may regret it.
For example, the processor can be called i5-4000m or i5-4000u or i5-4000y, what distinguishes these processors?
1. Characters on desktop processors.
Without letters – This has the actual speed of the processor, for example i7-4770
K- this letter means the processor is unlocked and you can overclock and increase the speed. A processor with 3.5ghz can be overclocked to 4ghz. Its name becomes this system i7-4770K. It is very good for those who play games and do rendering.
R- this letter means this processor is very small and can be used on desktops with a small shape as long as it has a large graphic like iris pro. Its name is this system i7-4770R, this is good for those who have offices that are clean and don't want a lot of wires and a big desktop sitting on the table. look at the picture below to see the small desktop.
S- this letter means that the processor has optimized performance, often they want to underclock to prevent the processor from getting too hot. For example i7-4770 has 3.4ghz but i7-4770S has only 3.1ghz, it means here they have reduced 300mhz from stock to S.
T- this letter means six processors power is small, for those of my colleagues who use luku, if you want a desktop that does not consume electricity, then this is the same, but the performance will also decrease a little. The model name is i7-4770T
2. Letters in front of laptop (mobile) processors
We have already seen the letters in front of the desktop, now let's look at the letters in front of the laptop processors that can also be used in home theater pc (htpc) or what others call mini desktop.
M- this letter means that the processor is mobile, it is the common letter on laptop processors such as i5-4000M
U- this letter means the laptop processor uses small power, these processors are widely used in thin laptops (ultrabook). Because they stay charged due to using less power, their performance is also less. Model i5 4250U
Y- this is ultra low power, that is, it consumes less electricity than even U, but at the same time, the performance is decreasing with it, for example i7-4610Y
HQ- this letter means high performance, they are sold at a very expensive price and its power competes with desktop. Don't try to put this design laptop on your lap because they catch fire very quickly due to the quality of the processor. It is good for those who like to play games, use big software while in bed. An example is the i7-4700HQ
MQ- this letter means that the processor is quad core. If you have read well above i5 and i7 for desktop are quadcore but for laptop are dualcore, this processor means you can use quadcore on your laptop if you want for example i7-4900MQ
MX- this letter means xtreme edition, this processor can be overclocked like the desktop K series and has a great performance, so be careful with your laps.
Model i7-4940MX
This is the guide to buying intel processors, I hope you have found something in the processor issues and not just a joke
